The Amateur – Nirvani A

As the rhymes slowly unwind in your amateur mind,

remember that others have started way before your time.

The place to begin is always so dim, so barren and so bare,

but persisting in the game will win you a name.

Don’t distress, the test of true greatness is permanence, not only fame.

Longevity is the same, endurance is the game.

No matter the origin, the color or the creed,

true talent is of a different breed,

rhymes that fulfill every need, plant the seed and the blossom will sprout

don’t give in to the debilitating doubt

that strikes every artist, every writer of verse, every writer of words.

The heart of the critic can’t deny, though they can try,

true greatness lies in persistence, forget your pride.

You’re an amateur, true, but who of us starts out adroit?

A matter of luck and time, every novice can succeed, can turn it all about,

become a name among the rest and achieve success.

Forget the naysayers, the negativity, deliver the truth,

forget it all and continue the route, the path to glory

will eventually lead, if only you persist in telling your story.

The oppression of doubt can’t stop the desire,

that self-same doubt will merely encourage the fire

that smoulders from within, the fire that burns

until you begin to write and let the rhymes flow.

Let the flames grow, rise and glow, within the recesses of your soul.

Then pour forth the knowledge, the harsh reality,

that contradicts and bites, forget the casualties,

the enemies, the criticisms generated by fear,

think only of the voice that rings so clear,

and speaks with honesty and sincerity,

the voice that cannot be suppressed,

that clamors so loudly above all the rest,

and finish what you started no matter where it goes,

be it death or notoriety, or fame and fortune, who really knows?

Author:

Stories and scribbles from imagination and life, meant to amuse as you peruse at your leisure, while perhaps offering in return for your time, a modicum of pleasure. Some words may offer comfort, should such need arise, perhaps a bit of joy, or new ideas to surmise. Or a tear or two might stealthily travel down a cheek, for strong emotions to elicit a writer must certainly seek. Though some may be dull, others may be awfully clever, at least I hope you find it so, for such is my endeavor. And as long as the muse continues to inspire me to write, so I'll keep on doing for such is my delight. Happy reading.
